THE CREATORS X CHAMUSQUINA

THE CREATORS X CHAMUSQUINA

"The Creators" is a tribute to the artist and their work. It offers us the opportunity to peek into their studios, homes, and corners of the world, filled with scraps of materials, and to learn how it all began, to hear them speak of their craft with passion and respect as if each piece were a conversation with the world.

In this fourth edition of THE CREATORS, we travel to the Costa Brava to discover Chamusquina, a brand of textile lamps born in the early 90s in Barcelona, created by Catalina Alós. An artisanal project that champions simple materials, manual labor, and imagination.

"The name Chamusquina comes from our lack of initial experience with electrical matters. We would scorch some of the connections."

In the world we live in now, where everything is so measured, so labeled, so precise, so technological... Chamusquina gives a lot of room to the idea of the unexpected and the creative. A whole process aimed at finding the quality of light filtered through fabric.

"In every design, we seek elegance, simplicity, and the warmth of light"

In their atelier, both Ana and Catalina design the pieces using simple materials: iron frames, linen and cotton fabrics, ribbons, ropes... Each piece is built through a completely manual process. The fabrics are folded, torn, and transformed.

"Chamusquina is completely artisanal work. Our hands are behind every detail, with enthusiasm and soul. That is why people tell us that our lamps are alive."

A creative world in every aspect, and a lot of fun. That is what the Chamusquina world is all about.
