19th-century Chinese cabinet, probably made of stained or lacquered wood, decorated with mineral pigments and gilding, typical of domestic furniture produced during the Qing Dynasty. As is customary in Chinese tradition, the structure is based on complex mortise and tenon joint systems, which allow the furniture to be assembled without nails or screws and guarantee stability and durability.

The doors feature floral compositions arranged in vases, a symbolic still-life motif frequent in Chinese decorative iconography and associated with ideas of prosperity, domestic harmony, and cultural refinement. The front features repeated medallions with the Chinese character shou, a traditional symbol of longevity and family stability. The circular brass clasp, known as a "full moon lock," is another typical element of Chinese furniture. Its circular shape symbolically alludes to fullness, unity, and harmony.

The interior decoration reveals that the piece of furniture was intended as a carefully ornamented space even on the less visible surfaces, which may indicate that it was conceived to store valuable objects, textiles, or documents. The floral motifs of the interior show a more naturalistic treatment, closer to the 18th and 19th-century European ornamental repertoires. This decorative hybridization reflects the cultural contact that intensified in China during the 19th century, when commercial openness after the Opium Wars introduced new visual references in the decorative arts without altering the traditional structure of Chinese furniture.
