The lamps produced by the French ceramic workshop Accolay during the 1960s and 1970s clearly reflect the transition between post-war craftsmanship and modern decorative design. Accolay began as a cooperative founded by former students of Alexandre Kostanda in Burgundy, and eventually developed a highly distinctive visual language based on textured glazes, organic forms, and handcrafted production, using materials closely associated with the Mediterranean and bohemian aesthetic of the 1970s.
