Camille Tan (1990) is an artist and designer based in Brussels, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. For over fifteen years, she has developed a practice at the intersection of sculpture, design, and contemporary craft.
Inspired by nature and her experience in climbing, she creates suspended mobiles from found materials—wood, stone, metal, or ancient fragments—to explore balance, tension, and movement. Her works reveal invisible forces such as gravity, weight, and oscillation.
Each piece emerges from an intuitive assembly process, without prior sketches, where she drills, polishes, and connects materials with metal rods until a precise and organic balance is achieved, leaving room for chance and movement.
Far from concealing the traces of time, Tan integrates cracks, erosion, and patinas as essential parts of the work, transforming each sculpture into a living, silent presence.
Her mobiles inhabit a delicate point between stability and instability, lightness and weight. More than decorative objects, they are suspended landscapes that converse with space and offer a sensitive perspective on beauty and the relationship between elements.
