The lamps produced by the French ceramic workshop Accolay in the 1960s and 70s well reflect the transition between post-war craftsmanship and modern decorative design. Accolay began as a cooperative founded by former students of Alexandre Kostanda in Burgundy, and ended up developing a highly recognizable language based on textured glazes, organic shapes, and artisanal production, with materials strongly associated with Mediterranean and bohemian tastes.
