Wabi Floor Lamp
| Carved from an ancient wooden beam recovered in Yunnan province, this lamp retains the strength and character of materials that were part of some of the most beautiful and long-lasting rural architectures in southern China. For generations, these large wooden structures supported traditional homes built by the Bai, Naxi, and Yi communities, before starting a new life as a contemporary object. The base preserves the traces of that past: a deep patina, marked grain, and natural variations that can only emerge after decades—and even centuries—of aging. The lampshade, made of waxed handcrafted Xuan paper, filters light softly and reveals the richness of its natural fibers. When lit, it creates a warm glow that contrasts with the strong presence of the ancient wood. |
